深く重ね塗りされた漆は、自然の光沢を帯び、そのままで十分に美しい 芸術作品ですが、こちらのコーヒーカップは内側を珍しい白うるしで塗りあげてあります。

白いうるしなので、コーヒーを注ぐとコーヒーの色も浮き立ちます。また、漆は口当たりがやわらかく、天然木製で仕上げたカップはとても軽いのが特徴で、保温性もあります。

手に取った瞬間肌に伝わる漆の温もりと、カップを口に運んだ時の感触はきっと満足していただけることでしょう。

About Araki Urushi Pottery

Nanao suffered two major fires, in April 1895 and November 1905, and no records of the past remain. The only thing that remains is a boat chest containing lacquerware with the inscription "Kaei 7, February, Year of the Tiger, Shinjo Masahiro." Looking into the temple's past records, we find that the first Masanori of Ipponsugicho was called Atarashiya, not Araki, and his shop name was Shinmasa. It is said that he was a peddler of Wajima lacquerware from that time.
