輪島塗の加飾には蒔絵と沈金とがありますが、 こちらの銘々皿は沈金で模様を描いてあります。
ひとつ、ひとつ丁寧にのみ(沈金刀)で模様を彫り、その上から漆をのせたあと金を埋め込んでいく技法が沈金と言います。


この牡丹柄は輪島塗に古くから描かれている模様で、伝統が息づいています。
総彫りとなっていますので、豪華さも増すとともに傷が目立ちにくいというメリットがあることから根強い人気です。

お客様にお茶とお菓子を出すときにお余りにもちぐはぐなものでは体裁が悪いですね。

About Araki Urushi Pottery

Nanao suffered two major fires, in April 1895 and November 1905, and no records of the past remain. The only thing that remains is a boat chest containing lacquerware with the inscription "Kaei 7, February, Year of the Tiger, Shinjo Masahiro." Looking into the temple's past records, we find that the first Masanori of Ipponsugicho was called Atarashiya, not Araki, and his shop name was Shinmasa. It is said that he was a peddler of Wajima lacquerware from that time.
