染付とは、素焼した白い色の器に、コバルトをふくんだ呉須という絵の具で模様を描き、その上に透明な釉薬をかけて本焼したものです。

呉須は焼く前は黒や茶色ですが、本焼するときれいな藍色に発色します。筆づかいで色の濃いところと薄いところの微妙な色合いが見所です。

一見桜の花びらで埋め尽くされた文様に見えますが、商品名に「春秋」とあるようにところどころにもみじの葉も描かれています。

About Araki Urushi Pottery

Nanao suffered two major fires, in April 1895 and November 1905, and no records of the past remain. The only thing that remains is a boat chest containing lacquerware with the inscription "Kaei 7, February, Year of the Tiger, Shinjo Masahiro." Looking into the temple's past records, we find that the first Masanori of Ipponsugicho was called Atarashiya, not Araki, and his shop name was Shinmasa. It is said that he was a peddler of Wajima lacquerware from that time.
